EAT YOURSELF BEAUTIFUL: The Detox Kitchen give us the skinny on super foods

About Us page component.

Last month we had the pleasure of meeting the women behind The Detox Kitchen, the latest offering of gluten, wheat and sugar free food from their Soho deli. If there is anyone who knows about the benefits of super foods and detox diets, it's these girls. Here they share their tips for eating yourself beautiful.

A well balanced diet is incredibly important. Not only does it make you feel more energised and happy but can also make you feel beautiful – inside and out. It’s not just creams and potions that can have affect on your skin and hair, eating certain foods can make your skin glow and your hair shine. So get out of the bathroom and into the kitchen. Here’s a pick of a few of my favourites.

THE GOOD STUFF:

Coconut oil is great for cooking with. You can use it as eye makeup remover, hair conditioner or body scrub. It’s antibacterial and antimicrobial and some tests show it also helps burn belly fat. Bonus.

Greek yoghurt is amazing to use directly on your skin. It’s an amazing spot treatment as the lactic acid sorts out your dead, dull skin cells. It’s a great hydrator too.

Hemp is a great source of omega-3 fatty acids, iron, protein and magnesium. Add it to your porridge or muesli and you will be buzzing.

Berries are a great antioxidant and delicious.

Sweet potato is packed with vitamin A so expect to notice major changes in your skin. You will look years younger.

Strawberries are a natural chemical peel. Rub half a strawberry on your face, let it sit and then rinse it off after 10 minutes. Done.

Lemon juice is amazing to rub on dry skin and joints. It also sorts out a dry scalp. So just cover yourself in the stuff. Putting lemon in your water also helps your body absorb the hydration so stock up on them.

Raw honey is antibacterial so whack it on anything that irritates you to calm it down.

Raw cacao powder is a natural energy booster and a great way to ingredient for healthy treats.

So get that food on your skin. Or have a go at adding some of these vital ingredients to your meals and you will notice a considerable difference in your skin and hair to make you look and feel better in time for the summer.
