MEETING PIXIE: the face of Magnitone talks beauty with us

About Us page component.

This week we caught up with Pixie Lott, the pop princess who quickly became the nation's favourite as she perfected her Cha Cha Cha on Strictly Come Dancing last year. Now, as the face of Magnitone and with her very own pink Lucid brush, we find out what beauty means to her and why she chose to be an ambassador for the brand. Plus, find out how you can win a signed Pixie Lott Pink Lucid...

MyShowcase: We're passionate about championing independent beauty brands like Magnitone, what made you want to work with them and create your own Lucid?
Pixie: I love that Magnitone have created a range of products that really work at enhancing natural beauty and are quick and easy for busy women like me, to slot into their lives. From personal experience, I have good and bad days when it comes to my skin. It was important for me to create a product that would help improve my skin but also my confidence - it had to be something I would actually want to use.

Have you always been passionate about taking care of your skin or has it been since using Magnitone that you have started to focus more on the importance of skincare?
It is really important to look after your skin from an early age and my mum always taught me the importance of a good basic skincare routine. I like to take care of my skin the best I can and have always been into beauty but since working with Magnitone, I've realised that it's not just about the products you use - skincare prep is vital too.

How has using your Magnitone Lucid positively impacted on your skin?
I often have to wear a lot of make-up for shoots and filming and a normal facial wash doesn't always remove every trace of daily dirt and make-up. The great thing about my Magnitone Lucid is that it has definitely helped me get more from my daily cleansing and exfoliating routine and had a really positive effect on my skin. I've seen a huge difference in my overall skin texture after using it for just 7 days, I began to see a clear and glowing complexion.

Are you more of a skincare or makeup addict?
I love make-up and trying new trends but I also like to give my skin a breather once or twice a week if possible and keep my complexion as natural as possible. I've learnt that prepping my skin before applying make-up makes a real difference. Make-up wise I'm a big fan of Mascara- it gives the most lashes oomph and volume I can't resist a smoky eye.

From your music videos, tours and TV appearances, can you give us some backstage beauty tips?
Highlighters are great for giving skin a dewy glow. I like to put mine on top of a creamy blush for a fresh look. I love a smokey eye and was told to do the eye before your base - that way your eyeshadow doesn't fall off onto your base and make a mess. If you don't have professional brushes, a cotton bud can work wonders helping you create a smouldering line under your eyes - use one end to apply and the other to smudge. Use a facial cleansing brush such as Magnitone Lucid, before you apply your make-up to ensure you get a good base and to promote glowing skin.

We loved you on Strictly! What was your favourite makeup look on the show and have you kept up your dancing?
One of my favourite looks was the one for Halloween - it was good to play dress up and do something a bit fun. It was a crazy look! I have tried to keep up dancing but it's been so busy since I finished on the show. Trent and I will be performing on 'Puttin' On The Ritz' though, so we will be dancing again soon!

You're a role model to many women, for beauty and career inspiration. MyShowcase's mission is to support female entrepreneurs and help them achieve their career goals. What has been the best inspiration/advice which has helped you achieve your goals and success?
I think it's really important to work hard, always stay positive and don't let stress take over. Also give yourself some time to relax, and spend some quality times with your loved ones and friends. My family always keep me grounded.

What's next for you in 2015? Exciting projects, tours?
This year, I am mainly focussing on writing my new album. I am currently in LA with some great writers and producers, and excited to see what comes from these sessions. Aside from that I am doing some dates with Trent for Puttin On The Ritz, looking forward to be dancing again.
