Sage is a brand that was conceived by Sage Machado, a Californian jewellery designer with her own lifestyle shops in Los Angeles. I first discovered Sage's beautiful fragrances when a friend brought me one of her travel candles. I tracked her down in LA and got hooked on her beautiful fragrances, which are inspired by and named after gemstones. Mitchell and Peach is one of the best beauty discoveries I've ever made - I spotted it as a fledgling brand a few years ago and wrote about it on my page in the Telegraph Magazine. Poppy Valentine was founded in 2005 by designer Claire Read, who has been collecting vintage fabrics from all over the UK and Europe for the past 20 years.

After graduating in fashion and textiles from the University of Northumbria Claire designed ranges for Topshop and River Island, then spent five years teaching textile design at Holland Park Comprehensive before deciding to set up her own textiles boutique.

For Claire, the most exciting part of her job is hunting for new fabrics - much of which she just stores and admires in her boutique in Norwich's Royal Arcade. But she has also used some treasured pieces of 1950's fabric to create enchanting vintage accessories such as her makeup purses.
